OPEN STRINGS

Right hand technique can be a frustrating matter for all classical guitarists – beginners and advanced. Being no stranger to this, I’ve been experimenting with all sorts of methods trying to clarify those mysteries both in etudes and large pieces.

The most direct way of overcoming the problem is writing out the “plucking hand” for the piece/etude in its entirety. Dynamics and fingerings should definitely be included.
As I have seen it, a guitarist can be overwhelmed by the combination of right hand techniques found in the simplest studies.  We need to clarify and simplify things in order to overcome these challenges.

I’ve chosen some important studies by CARCASSI, CARULLI, and BROUWER  as examples of OPEN STRING study guides.   Please work on these along-side the actual study and see if it makes a difference.  Comments are always welcome.
